Overview of TCKID

TCKID is an unincorporated non-profit organization run by volunteers and is the fastest growing community for TCKs. It has been featured on the BBC, The Girl Scouts of the USA, Among Worlds Magazine and FIGT (Families in Global Transition) conference for TCKs, and is the clear leader in active discussion.
Founded by Brice Royer in November 2007, TCKID (tckid.com) is a community to support the needs of Third Culture Kids (TCKs), Adult Third Culture Kids (ATCKs), and Cross Cultural individuals.
While positioning itself as an open-forum, the site is more widely regarded as a community for TCKs, because it caters to various needs such local organizing, counseling, research and email support. The site is entirely run by volunteers.
Using interactive technologies such as teleclasses, TCKID brings people together to meet across cultural and national boundaries to discuss their differences & similarities, and the issues that affect them.
TCKID aim to:
o Increase collaboration and dialogue between people of different cultures and nationalities
o Highlight TCK issues ranging from belonging to friendship, to restlessness
o Provide an educational framework in which anyone can become active leaders in their own education
How does TCKID help TCKs?
To date, TCKID members have learned to express themselves to others who understand their issues and can relate to their experiences, have been encouraged to explore their issues in a safe way without being judged, are able to open up to anyone about how being a TCK makes them feel, and have gotten the resources and assistance they need.

Our programs include:
TCK Academy - A training program and teleclasses series featured community experts.
TCKID Private - An exclusive membership to support the TCK community
TCK Research - A TCK research network. The first and most extensive data collection of TCKs.
TCKWorld - Maintaining the first and oldest TCK website
TCKID Local - Local meetups to raise awareness and meet other TCKs.
And many more programs where we have encouraged youth, tomorrow’s leaders, to begin seeing themselves as citizens of the world.
Through our programs, TCKs learn to improve:
*How to recognize and develop fully the gifts received from this TCK experience
*How to make and maintain friendships with non-TCKs and TCKs
*How to sort out who they are and where to belong when they can’t get past the feeling of belonging “everywhere and nowhere
*How to deal with the grief they still feel from long ago losses of country and friends
*How to stop restlessness, and the cycles of separation and loss they continue to create for themselves because they can’t seem to stay in one place more than 2-3 years
*How to not forget and lose their past while moving towards the future
*How to deal with the loneliness they sometimes feel, even when others are around
